You just have to use a little old fashioned logic. Whatever Judge Sotomayor said once and believe me, I thought it was very much over the top, in the political climate of 2009, it is not nearly enough to deny her the seat. This is a different world. Look at Hillary Clinton and the gaffes and mistatements she made during Election 2008. The repercussions of that is that she is now calling our foreign policy. President Gerald Ford forgot who the Communists were once and lost the election. A pretty girl sat in Gary Hart's lap once, I think he was correct, and because someone snapped a Polaroid so he was turned back from a Presidential race. If we applied the Ford or Hart doctrine today, I do not think Obama and certainly not Biden would be in there. It's sheer syllogism. The Democrats are in charge, Ms. Sotomayor is a Latina, difficult to throw barbs at anyway but certainly impossible when the Hispanic vote and coming of age to do so is growing exponentially and both parties want it. Additionally, I think Rush should tone it down a little bit. We are not going to win elections making those the type of statements where he incredibly compared this jurist to a segregationist hate monger. I am a life long Republican but I want to win back the Congress in 2010 by furthering rhetoric that while showing dominance over the opposition is not smothered in nonsensical grasping at straws insults.
