Buying a car on credit or getting loans when the banks are tight is virtually impossible for those of us that pay in cash or debit and do not want to stay awake at night. The lenders will tell you you do not have a credit history. You also have your home and your belongings when you do not have debts. I find this policy preposterous and absurd. Citizens bail out banks out of their taxes and then are refused car loans and boat loans and mortgages because they were smart enough to not fall into the swamp of millions of Americans who practice no judgement in the frivolous and unrestrained use of credit cards. I see people charging 50 cent candy bars in Target. All of these people get the loans, people pay as they go do not. Read Joseph Heller, Catch 22 and vote for a new Congress in 2010 if you want things to make sense. Research classification "light credit" with your financial institution.
