This Gulf Oil Spill is a tough one but despite all the politics and the blame or escape the blame statements as a stock player I know some fundamentals and history of BP. This repair is dicey and nothing is certain but BP has the experience, equipment and know how to put this fire out. Of course to animal lovers like my family and environmentalists, this entire mess is revolting and unacceptable. The federal government does have the power to abrogate the BP contract but if they thought it would be advisable to do that that would have already happened. For these types of events I firmly and absolutely trust my government to act effectively and properly in this situation. This of course would not be a political decision but an operational one. The fact of the matter is that absent our close to the vest Press Secretary, there seems to be an acceptance of BP as the contractor and belief by Federal officials that they can bring closure to this. The know how is really too esoteric as an industry for us to be railing on BP. There may be dirty linen in this thing and we all know that. The more things change, the more things remain the same. I would let them work without threats and interference similar to what we do when some guys come over to lay down some carpet. We let them work.
